A few months ago, iirc, you linked to a Canadian? amplifier which seemed to be made as or perhaps could be applicable for DSET use but I can't find the link. Can you remember where its is (or what it was called)?[/quo...

The least offensive result I have gotten from a ported speaker was closest to the yellow option. I built a pair of small monitors with ports on the top purely because it was the only way they would fit. I cannot reasonably e...

The problem of most solutions in high end audio is "one step forward, two steps back". Personally I prefer to hear all information/dynamics of sound even if the sound is out of control.when I use Isolation Transformer, AC filters (both parallel and ...

Checking if you playback can discriminate absolute polarity is very simple and very effective way to find out if you acoustic system is not fundamentally faulty. Flip the polarity and monitor the result. If you did not experience dramatic changes at ...
1. Put a door in front of the alcove that is casusing the resdonance and line it with 6 " of sonex. May turn the space into a bass trap at 60 Hz.2. Put an adjustable notch filter into your crossover at 60 Hz.
Bill, the 6 "...

I think it is Wiremold part number L10320. At least it used to be.
It has no filters, no switch contacts, indicator lights or passive protection devices and uses hospital grade outlets....

N-set, have another look at the Chimera "bias", and the sophistocated way the diodes effectively buffer the gain stages, also the way the caps are staged over the tiered ground planes. Also check where the Ls are with respect to the signal. Perhaps...
if you could understand the basics about how audio waves especially bass range acts in closed space you wouldnt even bring the name Bass EQit just cures the sound pressure in a single spot(listener) and possibly can not do anythi...

Thanks Bud!We often underestimate the fundamentally very physical way that sound is produced in our stereo circuits in complex electromechanical ways. I agree with Peter Belt that circuits are affected in ways that can be more adequately explai...

I did read your earlier post regarding the P300's use and unsuitability for analog in your system.I am starting to listen only in the early morning, and I can hear The Change as the day gets going and I presume people start switching on their ai...

Here is the last “real” version of the super Milq input with all filters. The rectors are not common denominated yet, them will be later but it will be already it. I can wait to hear the thing.

I really do not what is gong on there and why. Thorsten's comment that line-level crossovers do not act like speakers’ level crossover confirms what I feel and what some other people suggested me. Yes, the reactance of the crossover component, the in...

The idea just came to my mind and it is in a way brilliant. It is not implementable in my playback because my Injection Channel is driver by 1/6 of 6ch Milq and because my Injection Channel is high-passed. However the idea is still conceptually very...

Paul, I do not think that “before or after RIAA losses” requirement has any merit as no matter what kind type RIAA filter is being used it always will lose around 20dB. I do not think also that there is a “safest path” or “reasonably affordable”....

I have already got a tape recorder and now here is what I am thinking. Since there are quite a few tapes with Dolby A, Dolby B, Dolby c, Dolby S, Dolby SR, DBX and since some of the tapes were not properly EQ I would need an abili...
Hi, I have some experience with the 2482. Sure it can reach 300 Hz but only with EQ.
HelloMy experience is that JBL-2482 can be used without EQ.Example on my system where 2482 is used on a home made "Tractrix like" horn ...
Do you also suggest getting rid of the chokes at the power entry?
I am surprised that you ask those questions. Who cares what I, you or somebody else think or suggest. You have the input filters in please, when the unit ...

(feel free to re/move this post to the electricity thread)As the power supply I'd regard everything from the power generator in the power plant down to the actual load. Why the power transformer should be the cutting line? I do hear your voice clearly...

IMO, with care the Lowther DX4 does pretty well from 150 to 10k Hz.; but it is as colored when "loaded" by a horn as anything else. The "notch-filtered" DX4 driver is pretty natural in an OB within its "easy" range, lacking only the la...

Hi,
May be it is time to review some basic concepts?
I am quite familiar with them, thank you.
I'm using today IC based, Accu powered small amplifier, and it reproduces music, without any noise and distorsion from angry...

Well, I guess that about covers it, all right! But how do they get the 12AT7 input noise down 147 dB?!?They do mention something about using "quantum particle research", which might mean Bybee filters, or op amps, or both.So is this thing 2-stage ...

N-Set In Tehran properly setup audio systems are rare and most of the time we have not enough transparency to see what PP do with sound.some audiophiles in tehran believe the PP is not good (they prefer AC Line Filters to PP) because they had not go...
Also: a tuning fork, the basic, humble tool which makes a full orchestra to play "in tune" is - as applied math and acoustic, a sort-of interpretation of Nature and its Laws - giving 440 cycles (hertz) flat to the trained mu...

Romy, What you say about both series and parallel filters is true. The parallel circuit does eat transient response, but if you keep the minumin impedance higher, it does not stress the amplifier so much. For your 16 ohm woof...

I confess that at one point I tried PM6As in 2.5 cu. ft. vented boxes. Lousy, tipped-up balance and soggy, one-note "bass", contrary to the designer's claims. The only thing good about it was that the box did not add c...

My playback is disarray and distraction for weeks. My preamp is being rebuilt by Guy Hammel and without it my playback feels like a playground of WWIII. Nothing could be connected; nothing can drive anything – sucks in other words. But is it coming,...

It just ocurred to me to stir things up by posting here about the fact that my own DEBZs (somehow) absorbed 600W peaks during a recent Mahler 3 frenzy. I remember reading somewhere that some owners of the biggest Horning speakers would run them at 12...
